Music Video Evaulation- 'The Muppets'

How long did it take to film?

All together I would say that it could around 3 hours to film our music video. We didn't expect it to take this long because our shots were straight forward. It took longer than we thought because of the absence of team members- meaning we couldn't film some of our shot. Also because of facilities we needed, they weren't always available at the time so it meant we had to think of different places to film.

Storyboard

When we first got our song we started to plan a storyboard. This was helpful as we could draw and write down what we wanted to film and also who was filming and participating in each clip. We also knew that everything on the storyboard fit so this meant we didn't have to film the clips in chronological order.

How did the footage look when we reviewed it?

When we reviewed our footage some of the clips wasn't very clear, for example- the first clip, this was because of the windows at the back which gave it a bad reflection. Other than that the majority of the clips were up to standard because we did plenty of takes. We also got the lip syncing in time with the soundtrack which meant it was easier to match the videos and audio together when it came to the editing.

How did you find the editing programme?

I found the editing programme really easy, this is because I had previously used it for my 'Opening to a film sequence' so it meant I knew what to do, how everything worked and where everything was. I also learnt some new techniques when editing this. For example, the green screen. Although I didn't know how to do it at first, now I find it no problem. I also found it easy to match the videos to the audio as I knew certain ways which helped me get the match close to perfect.

How hard was the lip syncing?

I found the lip syncing straightforward. It worked as long as our body language matched with the voice of the audio and as long as we had enthusiasm. The only part which was difficult was when we first did it and it was hard not to laugh.

What differences do you think there’ll be in moving from this short, simple task to a full music video?

I think making my full music video will be easier than this as I have experienced lip syncing and acting in the making of this video. I now know to have plenty of enthusiasm and that my facial expressions and body language make a big difference when lip syncing. I have also had a lot of experience in the editing programme so when it comes to editing my final piece, it should be no bother. It has also taught me that the filming needs to be done straight away with a straight forward plan as filming is time consuming.

Overall I think this task was very helpful and has prepared us with what we need to be doing and thinking about when it comes to our full music video. I think it was a successful task and pretty realistic.
